A box made of boxes made of boxes made of boxes...

Shane McAdams

I came across this artist by accident the other day. Some of his pieces in which he uses just ball point pens are really stunning. I like the graduation between the translucent colours and the intense mass of dark ink.

Lost in Lace // Birmingham

I went to this exhibition whilst I was in Birmingham. Each piece used lace as a medium and it was amazing  seeing the versatility of the different ways it can be used. These are a few of my favourites.

Lace wound to create this geometric pattern, then lit underneath by neon lights which faded through different colours.  It was a beautiful and quite surreal sculpture.

Collage from cardboard boxes. Inspired by aerial maps and nets of boxes.

Accepting your surroundings.

Photographs, scratched, layered, photographed, layered, photographed.

Nostalgia

This is from an interesting blog I found, made up of images like this sent in by people from all over the world.

The images are so striking because they seem to simply represent the complex relationship we have between the photos we take and our memories. Each photo comes with a small piece of text, often about lost times or lost people.

It reminded me of the quote about a photograph being like a 'little slice of death'.

I've been experimenting with photos, collage and light recently. Not sure where to go with it but it's created some interesting effects.
